What is Meiosis & Mitosis?

 What is Meiosis & Mitosis?

A perfect and challenging question, but I will make it easy for you.

The answer is that these two are are the processes or in more simpler words, are the types of cell divisions.

Mitosis

It is the process in which a parent cell divides in order to produce 2 daughter cells  with having the same number of chromosomes as in the parent cell. The chromosomes present in the nucleus are duplicated during interpahse(which is the process which involves the duplication of chromosomes in the nucleus). Two sets of chromosomes are formed. During the nuclear division, when the cell divides the two sets of chromosomes are retained in the daughter nuclei.
After nuclear division a shallow groove arises in the middle of the cytoplasm which deepens further and divides the cell into two daughter cells.

Meiosis

It is the process in which the parent cell divides into 4 daughter cells in such a way that the number of chromosomes as compared to the parent cell is reduced to half.
The process of meiosis involves of two more division which  are the meiotic-1 division and meiotic-2 division.
During meiotic-1 division the number of chromosomes is reduced to half(as compared to the parent cell).
Meiotic-2 division is similar to mitosis because the half number of chromosomes is retained in the four daughter cells.
